Seagrams VO Blended Canadian Whisky 700mL
Seagrams VO Blended Canadian Whisky - Seagram's VO is a classic Canadian whisky blend, made with spirit of at least 6 years of age. It is said the blend was created after a post-prandial conversation amongst the Seagram family; the letters "VO" might well stand for "very own", as in, their very own blend...
Here are some tasting notes: Nose: Juicy, spicy rye grains, dried apricot, lemon curd, oak and gristy sweetness. Palate: Spicy and creamy, medium-bodied with honey, caramel and coffee. A touch of orange marmalade and pannacotta. Finish: Medium length, spicy and sweet.
Seagrams VO Blended Whisky is distilled in Canada and aged in barrels for at least three years; often (but not always) Canadian whiskies are blends of corn, barley, and rye whiskies which were distilled and matured separately. Traditionally, Canadian whiskey is called “rye”, although no minimum percentage of rye-grain whisky is required in a blend
Seagrams VO Blended Canadian Whisky 40% ABVThe revived version of the famous blend from the now-deceased Seagram's conglomerate. The 'VO' apparently stands for 'Very Own' as the blend was initially conceived for the private use of the Seagram family. We have Prohibition to thank for Canadian whisky being so popular in the U.S. After Prohibition ended, the Canadians who had been supplying the nation during those dark times had sufficient supply while U.S. distilleries had been closed. Seagram's in particular had a large supply to offer. The VO was created to celebrate owner Joseph Seagram's son, Thomas, upon his wedding.
